Projection spéciale de Sisters: Dream & Variations

En collaboration avec DOC Québec, une projection de Sisters: Dream & Variations (« Soeurs: rêve et variations ») aura lieu au Cinéma Moderne mercredi prochain, le 27 mars, à 18h30. L’événement sera précédé d’un 5@7 Doc Drinks et il y aura un Q&A après la projection. Le film sera présenté dans sa version originale, sous-titré en français.

Le film avait été présenté aux RIDM 2019, dans la compétition Nouveaux Regards, et s’était mérité le prix IRIS pour Meilleure musique documentaire (Týr Jami, Justin Guzzwell, Eric Shaw Perso), au Gala Québec Cinéma en 2021.

« Soeurs: rêve et variations » nous plonge dans un monde onirique fait d’animations, de performances et de cinéma-vérité. Plus qu’un simple portrait, le film pose un regard inspirant sur la démarche artistique de deux sœurs d’origine islandaise dont les manifestations sont autant de variations sur l’affirmation de soi, la fantaisie, le rêve.

Point of View Magazine published “New Visions at RIDM“, by Madeline Lines, an article about the films in competition for best first film at RIDM 2019:

“Legault’s doc is a glimmering and playful family portrait”

“The film is delightful for its portrayal of the sisters’ aura of eternal childhood”

“Jasa’s whimsical drawings, animated on top of the live footage with impeccable timing (especially in the parts in Iceland), perfect the film’s central feeling of pure wonder.”

World Premiere photos

The world premiere of Sisters: Dream & Variations was screened at Cinema Quartier Latin, co-presented by RIDM and Pop Montreal. The film was part of the official selection, in the “New Visions Competition”

La première de Soeurs : rêve et variations avait lieu au Cinéma du Quartier Latin, co-présenté par les RIDM et Pop Montréal. Le film faisait parti de la sélection officielle, dans la catégorie “Compétition Nouveaux Regards”.
